This is our final and the longest race in the 2014 – 2015 Be Active Marathon Season. The race also serves as grading race for the Avon Descent. During the race paddlers will paddle on the narrow winding sections of the upper regions of the Swan River and then progress downstream to the wider and more open parts. Paddlers are advised to make sure they have a good hydration system to use, a comfortable seat and being fit enough for the event. If in doubt choose the short course.

Long Course – 25 km – Start heading up stream to Barrett Street Footbridge, doing a tight 180 degree under the foot bridge and return downstream, passing under Middle Swan Bridge, Barkers Bridge, Guildford Bridge and leaving Ron Courtney Island on the left, pass under Redcliffe Bridge and doing another 180 degree turn at the spit-post just upstream of the new “Ascot Inn”. Head back upstream between the island and park, finishing at the Garvey Park Jetty.

Short Course – 12 km – Start at Middle Swan and head downstream passing under the Middle Swan Bridge, Barkers Bridge, Guildford Bridge and leaving Ron Courtney Island on the left. Turn around the western end of the island and finish at the Garvey Park Jetty.

Novice & U12 GuppyK2 Course – 7km – Start at Barkers Bridge and head downstream passing under the Guildford water-pipe, rail and road Bridges. Leaving Ron Courtney Island on the left continue on down to the large Orange buoy upstream of Redcliffe Bridge and doing a left hand turn around the buoy. Head back upstream between the island and park, finishing at the Garvey Park Jetty.

U10 Guppy K1 Course – 6 km — Start at Barkers Bridge and head downstream passing under the Guildford water-pipe, rail and road Bridges. Turn around the western end of the island and finish at the Garvey Park Jetty.
