Avon Descent calls Olympian Ramon Andersson

DUAL Olympian Ramon Andersson has paddled all over the world but his heart belongs in the Swan Valley.

Andersson’s first appearance in more than a decade in next month’s Avon Descent marks a homecoming for the boy from Herne Hill who won an Olympic bronze and world marathon title.

“It is what started my paddling journey – 37 years ago it set that spark to get involved in the sport,” Andersson said.

“Every year that first weekend of August we would head down to the river and watch the paddlers come past. It was something as a kid that I wanted to do.”
