Volunteers

The 2012 Avon Descent was a great success, more than 2000 committed volunteers from a whole range of community groups helped ensure its success.

These volunteers donate their time to ensure the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent is run smoothly and safely. Volunteers with skills and knowledge, including first aid and resuscitation greatly add to the safety and support of community events such as the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent. The tasks the volunteers handle throughout the weekend include rescue and recovery of the competitors, parking, security, ambulance services, fire protection, and many more.

Avon Support Unit

The Avon Support Unit provides much of the rescue and recovery services for participants. Their Members maintain their first aid qualifications and bronze medallion prior to the event. Each year the volunteers do a fantastic job and are vital in ensuring the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent is conducted to the highest of standards.
